- Diabetes: corosolic acid is a triterpenoid glucoside which is believed to facilitate the transport of glucose to cells. It is attributed to the property of lowering blood sugar.

- Traditional uses include tea infusions of the leaves of this plant for the treatment of diabetes and hyperglycaemia (high blood sugar concentrations).
